Social networking pays off. I met Raddi Samardjieva Hansen through a Provincetown friend on Facebook. He had gotten chatting with her, (as people often do when hanging out in Ptown) and she told him she was looking to become a freelance web programmer, and if he knew anyone she could talk to about getting started. My friend immediately thought of me and my web design business, and sent me a message regarding Raddi. I agreed to help out wholeheartedly, as I feel strongly about giving back what was so freely given to me when I first started out.
Raddi and I met up at the Wired Puppy, in Provincetown, MA, and it was like meeting an old friend who I hadn't seen in a long time. I shared my experience as a beginner with her for about an hour. Unexpectedly, at the end of our meeting, she casually mentioned that she had been talking to someone who was in need of web help. I told her we could use this opportunity as a means of getting her feet wet as far as the ABC's of starting a freelance business, and a beautiful relationship began between a teacher and his student.
We went over everything from accounting to pitching a job, and doing an initial consultation. Our meeting with the new client was a success, and we landed a nice 4 figure job, which is really something in these "anyone-and-their-brother-can-build-a-website" days!
The Keyworth Graphics team welcomes Raddi and her amazing, and growing skill set.
